- 1976 – VCC was founded by John Savage in El Segundo, California
- 1977 – Introduced a first-of-its-kind LED panel lens made from precision-turned glass
- 1985 – Relocated headquarters to San Diego, California
- 1996 – Established maquiladora assembly operations in Ensenada, Mexico
- 2012 – Acquired Leecraft, Littlelites, and Chicago Miniature product lines
- 2013 – Opened a new 25,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Tijuana, Mexico; recognized on San Diego Business Journal and Inc. 500/5000 fastest-growing company lists
